Jenson Brooksby cruised into the semifinals of the ATP 250 in Dallas on Friday, beating Australia’s Jordan Thompson in an hour and 11 minutes, 6-3, 6-0.

And with that win, a pattern seems to be emerging: the 21-year-old American is now 4-0 in his career in ATP quarterfinal matches (and 8-0 in sets, too).

BROOKSBY’S ATP QUARTERFINAL RESULTS:
~ 2021 Newport QFs: d. Peter Gojowczyk, 6-0, 6-3
~ 2021 Washington DC QFs: d. John Millman, 6-1, 6-2
~ 2021 Antwerp QFs: d. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, 7-5, 6-0
~ 2022 Dallas QFs: d. Jordan Thompson, 6-3, 6-0

Brooksby ended up reaching the final of Newport (falling to Kevin Anderson) and the semifinals of Washington DC (falling to Jannik Sinner) and Antwerp (falling to Diego Schwartzman). He'll play Marcos Giron in the Dallas semis.

Brooksby has now reached the semifinals or better at four of his last seven ATP events, and is likely going to break into the Top 50 for the first time now—he's currently ranked No. 54, after being No. 315 at this time a year ago.

It’s a fantastic bounceback from a very unfortunate beginning to his 2022 campaign, where he had to withdraw from the Australian Open after testing positive for COVID-19. He did play a Challenger in Columbus, Ohio during the second week of the Australian Open, reaching the semifinals.
