Ohio State football coach Ryan Day's appreciation for tennis

Deion Sanders has conquered the football gridiron, and the baseball diamond. But now, the Super Bowl and World Series participant—the only male athlete to ever play for a championship in both of those sports—is ready to rule the tennis court.

Fittingly with May being National Tennis Month, the 57-year-old debuted his "new hobby" of playing tennis by sharing a selfie of himself on the court and video clips hitting balls to his Instagram account this week.

The outspoken current coach of the University of Colorado Boulder football team says that despite "working with eight toes," after foot surgery complications, and the aches and pains of being a retired elite athlete in two sports, he still has big goals in what's been dubbed the world's healthiest sport. The man who played for five MLB and five NFL teams in his career wants to be able to trade forehands and backhands with his good friend, actor Leon Robinson, known for his roles in films like Cool Runnings and Get Rich or Die Tryin', and the television show Oz.

"Leon, I'm coming for you man!" the former cornerback once known as 'Prime Time' wrote, saying that he'll need six months of dedicated time to be able to match up with his "dear friend and one of the best actors in the game that has played every role imaginable."

And while Robinson is ready to match Sanders' competitive fire, he says that nothing will get in the way of their friendship.

"I know you ain’t afraid of the smoke, coach,' commented the actor in reply. "It will be my pleasure and an honor to join you in any athletic sport! Keep practicing, bro. After the match, we're going fishing."

It's safe to say that the competitive fire never truly stops burning.
