Iga Swiatek was smiling from ear to ear as she made her debut at the Gala of Sports Champions, an award ceremony celebrating Poland's best in sports.

The 19-year-old had an incredible fortnight at Roland Garros, as she took out top seed Simona Halep en route to setting new records and winning her first major. She not only became the youngest major winner since Rafael Nadal in 2005, but also the first Pole to ever win a Grand Slam.

Over the weekend, Swiatek traded her tennis attire for a vibrant blue evening gown as the world No. 17 was chosen as the second Sports Personality of the Year in her home country.

"I would like to thank you again for your votes, because the truth is that if you fans hadn't taken my result so intensely and above all positively, I don't know if I would have ended up at the Champions Sports Gala. This statue means a lot to me," Swiatek wrote in her Instagram post.

Swiatek was in very good company just behind the award winner, soccer player Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker has made over 500 goals during his decorated career.

Swiatek is set to make her 2021 debut in Melbourne next month, likely at one of the WTA 500s.
