Earlier this month, Taylor Fritz entered Roland Garros eager to make a strong push into the second week. Disappointment turned to the alarm for the the American when he heard a "pop" in his knee that left him hobbling to shake hands with Dominik Koepfer in the second round.

Fritz was unable to walk off the court and was wheel-chaired off Court 6 that day.

For the apparent severity of the injury, Fritz remained optimistic for a safe and speedy return and set his sights on Wimbledon. On June 9, he underwent meniscus surgery and his recovery was said to be 100 percent and "not too lengthy."

The doctors weren't wrong. Fritz returned to court on Wednesday and put together an impressive 7-5, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 win over fellow American Brandon Nakashima at Wimbledon. The world No. 40 managed only missed a few weeks on tour and apparently hasn't missed a beat.

Fritz has yet to get past the second round at the All England Club, but will look to change that by taking out another countryman in Steve Johnson on Friday. The two have only faced off once before on the ATP Tour: at Indian Wells in 2019. That day Johnson posted a solid 6-3, 6-3 score over Fritz.

Whether he triumphs or falls on Friday, everyone involved in Fritz's miraculously swift recovery deserves brownie points or at the very least, a round of strawberries and cream.
