Arriving in Eastbourne, England, a week before Wimbledon, Paul Annacone and his team have a day-and-a-half to gear up Taylor Fritz for a first-round match against Mackenzie McDonald.

Alongside Michael Russell, Annacone is in the top-ranked American man's coaching corner. A former player himself, Annacone went on to coach some of the biggest names in the sport, including Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, Sloane Stephens and Stan Wawrinka.

Unfortunately for Annacone, Eastbourne had other plans for their visit. For one, after his arrival, Annacone realized that had left his computer on the plane.

“First disaster avoided,” he said after realizing that “Wonder Woman, a.k.a. Olivia Annacone” was able to work with the bureaucracy to find it.

With that out of the way, Annacone was able to stay focused on Taylor. Until...

“One little hiccup first day of practice,” Annacone said. “Taylor brought two left shoes. Not a genius, but that’s not going to work out too well.”

A right shoe was found and brought in time for Taylor to get his practice going, but not before his team was bumped off the court by Madison Keys and Jessica Pegula.

“If you’re going to get bumped off, that’s who you want to get bumped off by, right?” Annacone joked.

These hurdles wouldn’t stop Taylor from competing, but Mackenzie McDonald would. He took out the No. 1 seed 7-6 (3), 7-6 (8) on his way to the semifinals.

And as it turned out, the early exit foreshadowed another one, at SW19. After squeezing past unseeded Yannik Hanfmann in the first round, 6-4, 2-6, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, Fritz fell in five sets to Michael Ymer, 3-6, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.
