Tennis has found itself chasing F1 in the pop culture sphere in the last 12 months as its Netflix docuseries Break Point drew inspiration from the omnipresent Drive to Survive.

The two sports finally found time to collaborate last week at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters with Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas meeting George Russell and Nyck de Vries, respectively.

Russell was on hand for Djokovic’s opening-round victory in Monte Carlo, with the two sharing a brief chat after the world No. 1 defeated Ivan Gakhov in straight sets.

“Great day watching this man doing what he does best,” wrote the 25-year-old Brit, who won his first Grand Prix title in São Paulo last fall.

While tennis may be known for its globe-hopping, Djokovic found Russell’s schedule even more grueling as Grand Prix take place across various continents throughout the year, going from Australia to Saudi Arabia and China before heading back to Europe.

As for Djokovic, the 22-time Grand Slam champion had to head from Monte Carlo to Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Banja Luka Open, where he rallied from a set down to defeat Luka van Assche on Wednesday.

Following Djokovic and Russell’s meeting, tennis and F1 fans saw further crossover when cameras caught Tsitsipas and De Vries watching semifinal action in Monte Carlo.

“Is this what you meant by Tennis United?” joked the two-time defending champion, who endured a quarterfinal defeat to Taylor Fritz before the weekend.

Might we see any more F1 drivers stop by tour stops in Rome or London, as the schedules just about line up for trips to the Internazionali BNL d’Italia and Wimbledon?
