Dayana Yastremska has long dreamed of being a multi-hyphenate, and is keen to add “singer” back onto her resume after making a major splash at the 2024 Australian Open.

“In February I hope that one new song will come out,” the former world No. 21 revealed after defeating Linda Noskova in straight sets to reach her first Grand Slam semifinal.

“It's gonna be three of us, three different countries, that we, you know, got together and we made a nice song. I'm not going to talk much about it. You're going to hear it soon, I hope.”

Yastremska famously dropped two singles during the COVID-19 pandemic, the first in May of 2020 entitled “Thousands of Me,” followed by a dance bop appropriately titled “Favorite Track.”

“I do not strive to become a cool artist,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “I just like to sing, I like this whole atmosphere. It's much easier for me on the tennis court, than being in the studio, standing near the microphone, and singing, it's such a stress for me!”

Yastremska put her singing career on hold after a series of personal and professional struggles starting from 2021, including an incurred Anti-Doping Rule Violation from which she was ultimately cleared and the ongoing invasion of Russia and Belarus into Ukraine.

The 23-year-old kept a song in her heart through it all, even though she is unlikely to pursue too many outside interests as her tennis career is about to take off.

“I like modeling, I like fashion, I like philosophy, and I like many things to do,” she said. “But I don't have much time for it.”

Might we get an album in time for Roland Garros? A duet with Lorenzo Sonego?
