Since October 2017, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has been in a title drought. Hindered by a knee injury that required surgery, everyone's favorite Frenchman was not a title contender for a long time.

Now, ranked outside of the Top 200, the 33-year-old earned his 17th career title by winning Montpellier.

He defeated fellow Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, dropping only four points on his serve. What's even more astounding is that Tsonga only got into the tournament courtesy of a wildcard.

This win improves his head-to-head record against Herbert, who was playing his first singles ATP final, to 3-0. While Tsonga still isn't nearly as high in the rankings as the last time he won a title (No. 15) the trophy win bumped him to up world No. 140, 70 places further than last week. His last title win came in Antwerp over a year ago.
