Tomic continues feud with Hewitt with 60 Minutes interview

Bernard Tomic and controversy, name a more iconic duo. The Australian continues to turn heads, this time on the news program 60 Minutes where he was joined by his father to discuss his reputation and his feud with Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt.

After losing in the first round of the Australian Open to Marin Cilic, the 26-year-old slammed Hewitt in a press conference. "No one likes him. Who is he anyway?" was one of the more memorable lines.

Hewitt addressed his issues with Tomic in his own press conference in Melbourne, saying the former world No. 17 has tried to blackmail and physically threaten him.

"For me, the biggest frustration is I feel like I really went out of my way to help Bernie, especially when I first came into the role," Hewitt said. "At the end of the day he still kept making the wrong mistakes. For me, it was probably the abuse that I caught from him that in the end I drew a line in the sand. I haven't spoken to him since."

On 60 Minutes, Tomic escalated the feud, claiming he would knock Hewitt out if he came within one or two meters of him.

For reasons unknown, the world No. 85 was constantly winking at the Channel 9's Allison Langdon.

Tennis Australia’s Performance director Wally Masur was also interviewed and maintained a very even kneel in efforts to diffuse the tension. Masur's boss Craig Tiley, however, did not mince words in his statement.

"Lleyton is right to say Bernard will not be considered for Davis Cup. Bernard does not meet the standards of behavior and commitment to himself, the team or the sport," Tiley said. "Now, he is deliberately trying to damage that culture — and not for the first time."

There's little doubt that Tomic will continue to do as he pleases despite the dwindling amount of support from fans and Australian tennis authorities.
