U.S. Fed Cup team has a blast winning in Asheville

To kick off their Fed Cup title defense, the U.S. team of Serena Williams, Venus Williams, CoCo Vandeweghe and Lauren Davis enjoyed their time in Asheville, N.C. where they faced off against The Netherlands.

The high-spirited host team attended an official Fed Cup dinner on Friday night before action got underway on Saturday and Sunday against a Dutch team featuring Aranxta Rus and Richel Hogenkamp.

On opening day, Venus Williams swept past Rus, while Vandeweghe battled back to beat Hogenkamp.

Venus Williams would secure the 3-0 victory for the stars and stripes with a reverse singles win on Sunday over Hogenkamp.

The highly anticipated return of Serena Williams came after the tie was already decided. She joined forces with Venus for a dead doubles rubber against Lesley Kerkhove and Demis Schuurs.

The Williams sisters lost 6-2, 6-3, but the U.S. Fed Cup team was already through to the semifinals where they'll face France.
