US Open likely to be Ferrer's final Grand Slam

For 18 years, David Ferrer has graced the tour with his fiery personality and presence. However, this US Open may be his last Grand Slam, as the Spaniard has said he is retiring after either Madrid or Barcelona in 2019.

Ferrer has been a mainstay on the ATP Tour deep into his 30s. Smilar to Roger Federer and Ivo Karlovic, he's a player who loves the game too much to leave. Ferror played 50 straight Grand Slams before having to withdraw from Wimbledon in 2015 because of an elbow injury.

This year's Rogers Cup will also be his last, and it didn't have a happy ending. He lost to American Bradley Klahn in straight sets. This is the first time in his career that he lost to a qualifier in an ATP Masters 1000 tournament.

The news of Ferrer's retirement did not go over well on social media.

The 36-year-old is ranked No. 69 in the rankings.
