Venus Williams is set to play her first tournament of 2021, and couldn't be more excited to reunite with sister Serena on the court.

"We have been playing doubles together since we were eight years old, so people know us for playing against each other, but we have done so much together," she told Kelly Clarkson in a remote appearance on the pop star's eponymous talk show. "It’s the best feeling; I’m still the big sister, so when people ask me my favorite moments on court, I always say it’s when I get to play with her."

Joined virtually by recording artist Adam Lambert, the former No. 1 checked in with The Kelly Clarkson Show from Australia to relive some of her proudest career achievements, including her fight for equal prize money.

"Little known fact, or maybe well-known fact: it wasn’t equal for women until 2007, which isn’t too long ago. There’s still a lot of battles to fight in this world, so I’m looking forward to continuing to fight for equality because it’s something I’m passionate about."

Clarkson, who welcomed Serena on her show back in December, later asked the five-time Wimbledon champion about King Richard, the forthcoming film set to star actor Will Smith as Venus and Serena's father Richard.

"He’s a revolutionary kind of person. I love him to death, and the two young ladies who play Serena and I act just like we did, holding hands and hugging each other. It was really interesting to see that dynamic on set.

"We had a lot of fun with them, and would pretend they were actually us, saying things like, ‘Be careful, because in the year 2000, you’ll meet this guy. Don’t date him!’ They’re sharper than we ever were at that age, so I don’t think we have to worry about them."

Venus and Serena will both play at the Yarra River Classic ahead of the Australian Open in Melbourne next week.
