Venus shares tennis tips ahead of Roland Garros campaign 

In a video for Nordstrom, Venus Williams shared three tennis tips everyone can use, should fans be inspired to take the court upon seeing her compete at Roland Garros.

Three pieces of advice to sure up your game, Venus said, include:

1. Keep your eye on the ball

“Even for professionals when things get tight… the first thing we do is we start to lift our head,” she said. “And guess what: The ball lifts right on out, too.”

2. Don’t forget strategy

“A good rule of thumb is that you’re going crosscourt when the ball is deep … When you have a shorter ball go down the line,” Venus said. “When you go down the line, that’s when you can attack.”

3. Come to the net effectively

“When you come to the net, it’s very important to cover your line,” she said. “Approach down the line—you don’t wanna give your opponent the crosscourt.”

All of Williams’ net experience will come in handy this fortnight in Paris, as she’ll be pairing up in doubles with Coco Gauff. In singles, she opens versus No. 32 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova.
