On Friday, former world No. 7 Fernando Verdasco and his wife Ana Boyer welcomed a son. They named their first child Miguel in honor of Boyer’s father, who passed away in 2014.

In preparation for his firstborn, Verdasco missed both Indian Wells and Miami Open to stay in Madrid with his wife, who is the daughter of Filipino socialite and television host Isabel Preysler. The pair married in 2017 after meeting in Ibiza on a holiday in 2013.

“Thank you so much for your messages of affection and congratulations on behalf of our third!” The 35-year-old Spaniard wrote on Instagram.

Verdasco is set to make his return to tennis during the clay-court season. He is currently 8-6 in 2019, having reached the Sofia Open quarterfinals in February and the Australian Open third round.
