Anisimova, who missed events earlier in the season due to a positive COVID test and withdrew from Doha with an ankle injury, competed in her first event of the season in Dubai. The teenager claimed her opening round against Ana Konjuh in convincing fashion, but fell to two-time major champ Garbine Muguruza in the WTA 1000's second round.
