When you think of long, cat and mouse points, two players that definitely don’t come to mind are Roberto Bautista Agut or Gilles Muller. Yet on Friday, the duo played one of the points of the year (so far) in the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 event in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The 31-shot-rally eventually resulted in a Bautista Agut backhand passing shot for a winner, putting the Spaniard ahead 6-5 in the second set of what would be a 7-5, 7-6 (5) victory for the world No. 16. It was a rematch last year’s semifinals in Bulgaria, which was another win for Bautista Agut.

The 28-year-old will continue the defense of his title on Saturday when he faces world No.11-ranked David Goffin. Bautista Agut leads their head-to-head matchup 2-0, with their last meeting coming at the 2015 US Open. The other side of the draw features homegrown favorite Grigor Dimitrov and Nikolaz Basilashvili.
