WATCH: Ferrer gets honored in Buenos Aires

David Ferrer was the man of the hour before his first-round match at the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires.

The three-time champion is enjoying his farewell tour as he plans to end his stories career in Madrid. The world No. 149 was given a wildcard into the ATP 250 tournament.

Just before playing Malek Jaziri, the former world No. 3 was celebrated by retired and active players and friends, including Diego Schwartzman, Juan Monaco and Marc Lopez.

The Spaniard began his farewell tour in Auckland where he had to retire against Pablo Carreno Busta in the second round due to a leg injury. After Buenos Aires he will move on to Acapulco and then Barcelona—where he will honored with a tribute ceremony before the singles final on the Rafa Nadal court—and then finally, Madrid.

Ferrer is still alive at the Argentina Open, having defeated Jaziri in a straight-set win that contained an epic first-set tiebreak ending at 15-13.

The 36-year -old will take on Albert Ramos Vinolas in the second round.
