As a teenage defending Grand Slam champion, Iga Swiatek is in quite a rare and special position.

In a lot of ways, though, she’s just like any other young person, as evidenced by her interview with former Top-5 player Daniela Hantuchova, in a “Chatting with Daniela” segment for the Roland Garros YouTube channel.

“When I have some time off, I’m doing my driver’s license,” she said. “I wanted to do it as fast as I can, so when I’m 18 in Europe. But you know I had graduation from high school, then Covid came, and actually right now I’m almost 20 and I don’t have it."

Swiatek goes into Roland Garros with immense momentum, on the back of a victory at the Rome WTA 1000 event with wins over Elina Svitolina, Coco Gauff and Karolina Pliskova.
