The tweener trend is real.

Weeks after Alycia Parks put down a phenomenal tweener lob to a cap a winning week in Lyon, Karolina Muchova entered the pantheon on Monday while dismantling Bernada Pera at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

Long known for her tremendous hands and all-court versatility, Muchova has flown under the radar in recent months after injuries to her abdominal, back, and ankle all conspired to keep her from matching the heights she hit to reach the Australian Open semifinals in 2021.

Muchova at last looks back to her vintage best in the Middle East, attacking the net with aplomb against Pera, who could only watch as the coup de grâce tweener flew past her for what will likely be the best point played all week.

The former world No. 19 ultimately advanced past the American, 6-1, 6-4, to book a second-round encounter with Sorana Cirstea.
