On Wednesday, Kristyna Pliskova was one set away from upsetting top-seeded Angelique Kerber in Eastbourne. Instead, she was dispatched, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5, and got stung by a bee along the way.

The good news is that Pliskova has done a stellar job in the last few months to catch up to her twin sister Karolina. She's ranked at a career-high of No. 44 and reached her second career final earlier this season at her home tournament in Prague (where her sister fell in the first round).

While Kristyna Pliskova has some work to do to reach the Top 5 (Karolina is ranked No. 3), she has passed her in one regard—most aces on the WTA tour.

After Kristyna Pliskova hit 11 aces against Kerber, she improved her lead. That stat will still likely go back in Karolina Pliskova's favor as she's still in the draw, with rain delaying her third-round match against Shuai Peng.
