WATCH: Kukushkin blasts unexpected forehand past Tiafoe

Despite this power move, Mikhail Kukushkin lost to the Frances Tiafoe in the first round in Estoril. Looking down and out in the point, the Kazakhstani went for broke with a forehand slap—and it worked.

Tiafoe would prevail still somewhat comfortably, 6-3, 7-5, marking his first win on clay in 2019. The American will take on Yoshihito Nishioka next, who had his own hot-shot moment earlier this week.
