There’s no question that Rafael Nadal and Roberto Bautista Agut are two of the most physical players on the ATP Tour, never letting up and pushing themselves to the max on every point. Now just imagine the two Spaniards getting together for a training block to prepare for the weeks ahead.

One word comes to mind: intense.

Bautista Agut has been practicing with the world No. 2 at the Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy in Mallorca as they attempt to help Spain improve upon its runner-up finish from a year ago at the ATP Cup.

Despite their differences in their career statistics, Bautista Agut isn’t likely to yield an inch on the practice court as this point shows.

Aside from the actual on-court benefits that come with training with the 13-time Roland Garros champion, Bautista Agut is sure to gain some added motivation just from seeing the fruits of all that labor Nadal has put in over the years.

The two friends have only played each other a handful of times on the ATP Tour, but have joined forces on some major occasions, most notably during the 2019 Davis Cup final. There, Bautista Agut put forth an inspirational performance for the ages.

Bautista Agut hasn’t been the only player to join Nadal at his academy during this offseason. Up-and-comers such as Felix Auger-Aliassime, Lorenzo Sonego and Emil Ruusuvuori also stopped by to prepare for 2021.

When world-class talent gets together it only benefits everyone involved, something Nadal and Bautista Agut will be ready to show when they kick off their season soon.

The second edition of the ATP Cup starts the first week of February, with 12 teams battling it out for the title.
