Practice makes perfect!

Naomi Osaka has been open with fans throughout her comeback from maternity, showing some of the sillier moments from a practice session earlier this week alongside some impressive ball striking.

“back at it. (second slide lol 😖)” Osaka captioned.

Osaka has been hard at work since giving birth to daughter Shai in July, having been off court for maternity leave since announcing her pregnancy at the end of 2022.

The four-time Grand Slam champion revealed she planned to return to action in time for the 2024 Australian Open, a tournament she not only won twice but also where she first clinched the No. 1 ranking in 2019.

Back in the summer, Osaka, who made a cameo at the US Open as both a spectator and mental health advocate, shared video of a lighter practice with Rui Hachimura, a power forward for the LA Lakers.

“lil bro really thought he had it,” Osaka teasingly captioned over footage of a rally with a series of funny emojis.

Osaka isn’t the only one aiming for a 2024 AO comeback: fellow former No. 1 Angelique Kerber has also been hard at work since welcoming daughter Liana to her family in February.

“Taking a seat in the stands for now, but not for long,” Kerber teased back during Wimbledon.

At this rate, the Happy Slam is going to be overjoyed in January.
