After five long months, the WTA is back in full force. Last week, Fiona Ferro won the title in Palermo and this week there are two events, in Lexington and Prague, for the women to compete in.

While the season may not return to complete normalcy just yet, some big names are trying to get back into the swing of things, including none other than Serena Williams. It's her Kentucky debut and was convenient for her to get to from her home in Florida.

She joins a loaded inaugural Top Seed Open field, where she's the highest-ranked player in the draw joined by the likes of Aryna Sabalenka, Venus Williams, Victoria Azarenka and Coco Gauff. In pre-tournament press, Serena revealed how she stayed in shape while keeping her family and team safe.

"Tennis is naturally a socially distance sport so it was kind of easy to go back and walk on my side on the court and have my hitter on his side of the court," she said. "I wasn't able to go to gyms obviously, so that was different, but I'm also not bench pressing—this is God given, thank you very much from my mom.

"I had to basically make a gym and my husband made a court for me so that was a different. We built a tennis court and we built a gym, and it's so cool."

Her new court was surfaced with the same material that's laid down at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, the site of both the Western & Southern Open and US Open this month. Her two-year-old daughter Olympia joined in on the backyard practice sessions, making for one of the most viral tennis moments of the extended shutdown.

"I have her little racquet," Serena said. "Oh my goodness, it is really the cutest pictures ever in the ready position. She definitely likes it, but she loves football (soccer) more. Every time she kicks the ball I'm like, no, here's a racquet, so we'll see."

In Lexington, Serena even showed off Olympia's tiny racquet in a silly Instagram photo.

Serena has not played since competing in Fed Cup in February. She opened against Bernarda Pera on Tuesday with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 comeback victory.
