Maria Sharapova once said "Make every shot a power shot." Although the Russian couldn't capture every match, she always went for her shots and was unafraid to take chances, which is what led her to winning five Grand Slam titles.

On Tuesday, the 32-year-old announced she will be hanging up her racquets and closing the door on an amazing tennis career.

"Tennis showed me the world—and it showed me what I was made of," Sharapova said, in an Instagram post.
