Rafael Nadal had an emphatic start to his 2019 clay season with a 6-1, 6-1 demolition of Roberto Bautista Agut.

"Have been a very positive start. The results say that, and the feeling on court, too," Nadal said. "I can't tell you if I found my great rhythm. No, is not the case, no? I just started well. Is the first match in almost a year on this surface. But of course [a] start like this helps."

Bautista Agut, ranked No. 22, just reached the quarterfinals of Miami with a win over world No. 1 Novak Djokovic, and also appeared in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open after winning his ninth career title in Doha.

Nadal took him out on Wednesday in one hour and 16 minutes. Fans in Monte Carlo enjoyed the show, particularly one youngster decked out in Nadal gear.
