For Zizou Bergs, it’s Clay season—in more ways than one!

Bergs scored the first viral moment of the clay-court season with a hilariously unexpected answer to an interview question at the Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship.

Asked to describe his relationship to clay (the surface), the Belgian tennis player and part-time Tik Tok star took his answer in a completely different direction, opting to discuss his new partnership with physio Clay Sniteman.

“My relationship with Clay is quite new,” he says, giving no indication he’s about to veer off script before things take a strange turn.

“I wouldn’t say necessarily dangerous, but kind of that way. He’s quite funny!”

Sniteman (the man) owns Sundance PT, and according to his website, “specialized training programs and workout regimes for numerous elite athletes,” with a specialty in treating severe hip, shoulder and elbow injuries.

Bergs took the blooper in stride, hoping the clip makes its way to Sniteman, who ultimately made a cameo in the video.

Iconic interviewer Blair Henley blessed our social feeds with the camp moment on Monday, just in time for Bergs to channel the good vibes into his first ATP main-draw victory of 2024: a 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over American qualifier Patrick Kypson.

It looks like Bergs comfortable will clay of all kinds this week in Houston, but will that be enough against top seed Ben Shelton?
