Russian qualifier Maria Timofeeva announced herself to the world by cutting the Australian Open comeback of former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki short in the second round with a 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory—a match in which she trailed 6-1, 2-0.

Timofeeva's fearless display inside John Cain Arena, one that saw her clock 40 winners in two hours and 21 minutes, didn't just impress the fans who were watching her live.

As she reveled in the impact of her upset on the tournament in the press room, the 20-year-old was all smiles when a reporter informed her that her Instagram following had more than doubled from 6,029 to 13,600.

"I was doing mine for like three years. ... Now I opened. Like, I gained 8,000 in one match. That's crazy," she said.

But the Muscovite, who won her first career WTA title last summer in Budapest as a lucky loser, was somewhat of a social media maven already. She **launched her YouTube channel "Kiss My Ace" with friend and fellow pro Ekaterina Kazionova last year**, when she was sidelined with injury shortly after her breakthrough in Hungary.

With a breakthrough Grand Slam run as plenty of fodder, expect more thrilling content from Timofeeva—on and off the court—in the days to come.

"We're doing this as a hobby like for ourselves. Mostly it's, yeah, just a tennis channel where we vlog from tournaments and how it's going. Yeah, from here also will be one," she said.

"From here ... I'm vlogging. I actually expected my vlog to be a bit shorter, but now it looks like it's going to be a really long one and very I would say intense one."
