Wilson announces the Intrigue, a high-performance tennis shoe built exclusively for women

Since signing as Wilson's first head-to-toe tennis player in 2023, Marta Kostyuk has been on the cutting edge of on-court (and off-court) fashion with her high-performance kits and dresses, But in 2025, that collaboration is deepening further still: this time into innovative footwear.

Built with Kostyuk's input, Wilson this week announced the launch of the Intrigue, a high-performance tennis shoe built exclusively for women

The Ukrainian soft-launched the shoe at the US Open last year, according to *Forbes*, and its development started by scanning her foot as she challenged her apparel partner to make a shoe more suited for running and movement. Following an "extensive" process that led to the development of a new last that will be "the new standard of fit for Wilson’s women’s-specific tennis footwear," according to Wilson's senior director of footwear Shivam Bhan, the brand says the shoe is "personalized to the needs of the female athlete" as it gets ready to release to retailers on Feb. 11.

“Wilson and I wanted to create something that empowers women to move quicker and be more agile, while still looking sharp; the Intrigue does exactly that,” Kostyuk says. “This shoe has made my game faster and more relentless, and I hope it helps female athletes everywhere elevate their tennis game.”

The three main technologies that Wilson utilizes in the shoe had not yet been used in footwear, as per Tim Newcomb at Forbes: UltraShield mesh provides light-weight and breathable comfort; the FootFrame fit support system integrates with the laces of the shoe and "allow[s] for players to adjust the shoes where they need it most;" and the SwiftStep sockliner is "designed to bring the responsive foam closer to the foot through designing it into the footbed."

Wilson first tested the waters with an "Intrigue" line back in 1992, which also featured a women's shoe. But Wilson footwear designer Tate Kuerbis says that only the name is vintage, and this installment represents a "whole new beginning for Wilson footwear."

“I always like to respect the past but for this design, we really wanted to emphasize the future with a clean, modern and very simple design,” Kuerbis says. “Creating iconic and timeless designs that can stand the test of time, especially for a legacy company such as Wilson, is very important.”

The shoe will initially launch in stores and online on Wilson's website in the Dewberry colorway, with pink and navy accents, with other colorways planned for later this year. In addition, it will come in three versions—a Tour ($158), Pro ($138) and Lite ($98)—for players of varying ability levels, with the Lite also set to be suitable for off-court wear.
