The St. Petetersburg Ladies Trophy had the most extravagant ceremony—complete with a singer, a drum line, dancers and a giant flowered racket—to celebrate Caroline Wozniacki's ascent back to No. 1.

Wozniacki last held the top spot six years ago in 2012, making the time in between time the longest gap between turns at No. 1.

"No. 1, it's something very special," Wozniacki said. "I've had a great couple of last weeks, and to celebrate it here in St. Petersburg is something I'll never forget."

The Dane kicks off her campaign on Thursday against Anastasia Potapova.
