PORTOROZ, Slovenia(AP) Second-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues was ousted by qualifier Vesna Manasieva 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 in the first round of the Slovenia Open on Tuesday.

Manasieva came through qualifying for only the second time this year - after Wimbledon - for her first win on the main tour since last September. It was the qualifier's 20th birthday.

She'll face wild card Petra Martic in the second round.

Also advancing was qualifier Ksenia Pervak, who overcame Julia Georges 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Pervak will face Dinara Safina, making her first appearance since losing in the Wimbledon semifinals to Venus Williams.

Fourth-seeded Roberta Vinci easily beat Nastja Kolar 6-2, 6-0, and seventh-seeded Vera Dushevina allowed Tathiana Garbin only three games in winning 6-0, 6-3.

Also advancing was Maria Elena Camerin, and Camille Pin.
