YESTERDAY (July 11)

TEXAS WILD d. Philadelphia Freedoms 22-21 (7-1)

The Texas Wild won their second straight match in a Supertiebreaker with a 22-21 (7-1) over the Philadelphia Freedoms Friday. Wild players Alex Bogomolov Jr. and Aisam Qureshi delivered the goods in both the men’s doubles and Supertiebreaker, winning both to lead the Wild to victory. Bogomolov Jr. was also victorious in his men’s singles match, as he defeated Frank Dancevic 5-4. The Wild now improve to a comfortable 4-1 on the season to lead the Western Conference.

Washington Kastles d. AUSTIN ACES 25-10

The Washington Kastles held off an early challenge from the Austin Aces, going on a 15-3 run to close out the match. Kastles player Martina Hingis dropped her first game in three matches at the women’s singles slot but rolled to a 5-1 win over Austin’s Vera Zvonareva, while her teammate Bobby Reynolds pulled off a big win early against the Aces’ Andy Roddick. The Washington Kastles have now won 18 straight sets and 17 straight matches, as they improve to 5-0 on the season.

The Springfield Lasers will have James Blake in their lineup tonight, as they take on the Texas Wild in a pivotal matchup. After losing a heartbreaker to the Texas Wild last night, the Philadelphia Freedoms will travel  a few hours down the road to face the Austin Aces. Expect aggressive play from both teams in this even-matchup tonight. Taylor Townsend and Frank Dancevic will lead the way for the Freedoms in singles, while Andy Roddick and Vera Zvonareva likely to fill in the same spots for the Aces. The Philadelphia Freedoms and Washington Kastles will face for the second time this season. Philadephia is looking for redemption after their last meeting when, the Kastles defeated the Freedoms 25-10, winning all five sets.

San Diego Aviators @ Texas Wild 8:30 PM EDT

The San Diego Aviators and Texas Wild face off for the second time since the Wild defeated the Aviators in a decisive Supertiebreaker match. With both lineups being similar to the first meeting, expect another tight match to be played.
