The Russians will be going for a sweep of the top team competitions in tennis as they arrive for this month's Davis Cup Finals. The nation's top men have already won the ATP Cup at the beginning of the season and the Russian women just hoisted the Billie Jean King Cup in Prague.

Next, the team of Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Aslan Karatsev, Karen Khachanov and Evgeny Donskoy—the same lineup as the ATP Cup—will look to wrap up the season the same way they started it.

Russia hasn't won the Davis Cup since Marat Safin led his side to victory in 2006. This new group of players would like to change that.

"I do remember that win and do dream to repeat this success because our present-day squad is more than capable of it," Rublev told TASS.

"Time will tell... It is a matter of fact that we are currently at the level of winning the Davis Cup.

"This doesn’t mean that we have the game level and we will certainly win."

Rublev and Medvedev are currently ranked a career-high No. 5 and No. 2, respectively.

Three European cities will host the Davis Cup Finals, with teams going to Austria, Spain and Italy. There are 16 teams, with some strong competition like Novak Djokovic-led Serbia, Matteo Berrettini among two Top 10 players for Italy, and Canada, the United States, Great Britain, France and Australia also among them.

But Russia, with three career Top 10 players under 25, look like being regular favorites in the competition.

"We need some time," Rublev said.

They also enjoy playing together, especially as a change from playing for themselves.

"You want to win it as a team. You have a team supporting you, behind you, on the bench," Medvedev said during ATP Cup. "It's something special. We are playing for the country."

It will be second time the competition is being played since its restructuring, since the 2020 Davis Cup was postponed due to coronavirus. In 2019, home favorites Spain won the inaugural Davis Cup Finals hosted at Madrid.
