On the eve of 2026 Roland Garros, WTA world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka is gracing Vogue Magazine’s digital cover, giving an interview with journalist Rob Haskell and photographed by Steven Klein.

“A dream come true,” Sabalenka said of the experience on social media.

Sabalenka is in the midst of an uninterrupted reign of 83 weeks atop the WTA rankings—11th among all-time streaks and adding to her current total of 91. She heads into Paris looking to win her first major title away from hard courts, having captured two Australian Open and two US Open titles, winning most recently in Flushing Meadows last summer.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed more success in 2026, winning a rare Sunshine Double in Indian Wells and Miami, but suffered disappointment in Melbourne when she lost the Australian Open final to rival Elena Rybakina—all the while showing off her trademark competitive fire.

“This is part of my personality that can drive me crazy, but it can also drive me into that real fight mode and help me play with passion,” Sabalenka told Haskell. “It’s two sides of the medal.”

Sabalenka enjoyed mixed fortunes in the pre-Roland Garros swing, losing in the quarterfinals and third round of the Mutua Madrid Open and Internazionali BNL d’Italia, but the top seed came agonizingly close to triumphing at the French Open last year, losing in three sets to Coco Gauff.
