Good to see you, gotta go! I’ll be on vacation all of next week, but I’ll put my shoulder to the wheel once again on Monday, August 8. That seems to be the way things have been since I got back from Wimbledon, which has taught me a few interesting lessons about this new form of journalism.
One of the funny things about blogging is that because you have no real deadlines, you’re always on deadline—in your conscience. Also, because you can write as much as you want, as often as you like, you can experience anxiety and guilt about taking a day or two off here or there or even producing just a handful of brief posts on a given day, even if it’s for the most legitimate of reasons.
As a blogger, my ultimate nightmare is having a reader go to TennisWorld expecting a new post and finding something written—and read—48 hours ago. But that’s going to happen when you’re a one-man band. In fact, it should happen, because I’ve also learned in this experimental run at blogging that the biggest danger most bloggers face is burnout (followed closely by drifting into pathetic, delusional, long-winded irrelevance).
