NEW YORK—InsideOut Sports + Entertainment announced today that Pete Sampras will face off against Michael Chang and Andre Agassi will battle Jim Courier in the 2011 HSBC Tennis Cup at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. on Friday, September 23. Each one set semi-final will be a competition for ranking points culminating with the winners competing in an eight-game pro-set championship match. The athletes will be competing for a prize pool totaling $1 million to be shared by the top three finishers at the conclusion of the five-week season.
In addition to Agassi, Sampras, Courier and Chang, the five-week tour, produced by legendary impresario Larry Magid, will feature fellow Grand Slam champions Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Bjorn Borg and Mats Wilander. The Washington stop on the Champions Series circuit will be co-produced by Mark Ein Events/Washington Kastles, the city’s extremely popular World TeamTennis franchise.
On Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Agassi and Courier will square off again, while Sampras takes on the legendary Jimmy Connors in the 2011 Champions Shootout.
