Alizé Cornet is ready for the next chapter "for real this time." The 35-year-old Frenchwoman anounced a second, and purportedly permanent, retirement from tennis again this week.

The veteran former world No. 11 got a send-off at Roland Garros in 2024, but returned for a brief spell this year for a "last dance" after starring on the French version of the reality show "The Traitors."

"Reflecting on my time in San Sebastian and the end (for real this time) of a chapter as a player," Cornet wrote on Instagram, showing a photo of herself at the location where she played her final tournament earlier this month.

"Couldn't dream of a better place than this beautiful city to definitely turn the page and start writing others, in every sense of the word."

The 35-year-old went 4-6 in her brief comeback, playing at WTA 125 and tour-level qualifying. At Wimbledon, she told the WTA's Alex Macpherson that she wanted to "close the loop" on her career by playing qualifying on the grass courts after making her Wimbledon debut as a lucky loser back in 2007.

"It's the perfect last chapter," said Cornet, who's written three books. "This would be the actual perfect ending. Here."

The final match of her career came just about two months later: a 6-3, 6-2 loss to German Tamara Korpatsch.
