Almagro advances easily to second round

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) Top-seeded Nicolas Almagro of Spain advanced to the second round of the clay-court Copa Claro on Tuesday with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Pablo Galdon of Argentina.

Fifth-seeded Juan Monaco of Argentina also moved on, defeating Ivan Navarro of Spain 6-2, 7-6 (2).

Second-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland played later against Carlos Berlocq of Argentina, and No. 3 David Nalbandian was up against Potito Starace of Italy. No. 7 Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine faced Jose Acasuso of Argentina.
