Amanda Anisimova has reached the semifinals of the China Open in Beijing, battling her way past Jasmine Paolini in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 event on Thursday night, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4.

And with that win, Anisimova qualifies for the WTA Finals in Riyadh.

It’s been a season of breakthroughs for the American, and it began in February, when she won her first WTA 1000 title in Doha, which propelled her into the Top 20 for the first time. Then, her biggest breakthroughs—she made her first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon, after which she made her Top 10 debut, then her second Grand Slam final at the US Open, after which she made her Top 5 debut.

And now, she’ll play the WTA Finals for the first time in her career.

More to come…
