Mackenzie McDonald, seeded No. 6, fell to No. 126-ranked Henri Laaksonen, 6-3, 6-4, at the US Men's Clay Championships in Houston, Texas.

In his match on Tuesday, McDonald was greeted by a foe who had everything going for him. Despite getting plenty of break point opportunities in the first, he was never allowed to take control of the match. In the second, those chances diminished, only scoring one break point but failing to convert. It's fair to say today he faced a player who had answers to all his questions, and them some.

"I think I tried to stay on my game to be aggressive.," Laaksonen. "I think my forehand worked pretty well on important points."

Laaksonen, a staple in the Challenger circuit, came through qualifying. In his final qualifying match, he rallied to beat the event's No. 5-seeded Mitchell Krueger for a spot in the main draw.

Up next for Laaksonen is Ryan Harrison, who upset Ivo Karlovic on Monday.
