The 2009 Australian Open is less than five hours old, and we're up past the 1000 comment mark, with Novak Djokovic still on court and Roger Federer yet to play (anticipated around 5am TW time).
There have been no major surprises on day 1 so far. Djokovic's compatriots Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic went through in straight sets, as did Andy Roddick, Juan Martin Del Potro and Tomas Berdych in the men's draw. David Ferrer, a perennial Tribe favorite, was able to prevail in 5 sets over Denis Gremelmayr.
