Aryna Sabalenka surpasses 10,000 ranking points for the first time, joins exclusive list

Aryna Sabalenka was unstoppable in Miami this year, winning the title without even dropping a set—she never even went to a tie-break.

And not only did the world No. 1 come away with her first Miami Open title, her eighth WTA 1000 title and the 19th overall WTA title of her career, but the victory took her to a brand new ranking milestone: she has now surpassed 10,000 ranking points for the first time.

Sabalenka went into Miami with 9,606 points on her ranking, and replaced the 65 points from her third-round exit last year with 1,000 points from her run to the title this year—that’s a net gain of 935 points, which pushes her into five digits for the first time, at 10,541.

And with that she joins an exclusive list of legends, becoming just the fourth woman in the last decade to surpass 10,000 ranking points.

And the exclusive list gets even more exclusive.

The highest points total Barty achieved was 10,185, for three weeks in 2021, so Sabalenka is actually one of only three women in the last decade to surpass 10,500 points, after Serena and Swiatek.

Serena’s highest points total in the last decade was 13,161, for three weeks in 2015, while Swiatek’s highest was 11,695 for six weeks in 2024.

Sabalenka doesn’t have tons of room to add points during the clay-court season—she didn’t win any titles on the surface last year, but she went deep at all four events she played, reaching two finals (at Madrid and Rome) and two quarterfinals (Stuttgart and Roland Garros).

However, she has a huge opportunity to make (literally) major gains at Wimbledon, having missed the event last year with a shoulder injury.
