Good news for Sabadosa fans: the besties are back!

Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa are ringing in the new season at the Brisbane International, where they’re set to reunite on court in doubles.

The Brisbane women’s doubles draw, released Friday, features “Sabadosa”—close friends Sabalenka and Badosa—in the 16-team field. The unseeded duo will face Liudmila Samsonova and Zhang Shuai in the first round.

Sabalenka, the top seed and defending champion in Brisbane singles, will be making her first official doubles appearance since 2023. Her most recent outing came in Adelaide, where she teamed up with Lidziya Marozava and reached the semifinals. A few weeks later, Sabalenka went on to lift her first Grand Slam singles trophy at the Australian Open.

It won’t be the first time Sabalenka has partnered with her best friend. The pair teamed up at several tournaments in 2022, most recently at the Madrid Open, where they fell to Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula in the opening round.

Still, Sabalenka is no stranger to success on the doubles court. The Belarusian is a former world No. 1 in doubles and a two-time Grand Slam champion in the discipline, winning the 2019 US Open and 2021 Australian Open alongside Elise Mertens.

The move appears aimed at getting in as many matches as possible before both head to Melbourne for the year's first Grand Slam. Sabalenka, currently world No. 1 in singles, reached the Australian Open final last year, while world No. 25 Badosa is defending semifinal points.

The Brisbane International, a WTA 500 and ATP 250 event, marks the first combined tournament of the season and runs from January 4 to 11, 2026.

Top seeds Hsieh Su-Wei and Jelena Ostapenko will open their doubles campaign against Olivia Gadecki and Tereza Mihalikova in the first round.
