World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka has unveiled the colorful new outfit she’s set to wear for the upcoming Australian Open—and the look pays tribute to the styles of two WTA fashion legends.

Between matches at the Brisbane International, top seed Sabalenka shared a new video on social media showing off a “surf”-inspired NikeCourt Slam dress in pink, orange, and black with an asymmetric color-block design with blue trim.

If the colorway looks familiar, it should. Tennis fans in the comments quickly pointed out the similarity to Serena Williams’ 2021 Australian Open outfit—a memorable one-legged pantsuit that was itself inspired by looks worn by legendary Olympic sprinter Florence Griffith Joyner (Flo-Jo).

Sabalenka confirmed the connection on Instagram and during her on-court interview in Brisbane on Thursday, where the defending champion cited former world No. 1s Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova as inspirations for the colorful, summery look.

“It was a light peach dress, do you remember? That was my favorite one, I would love to bring that back,” Sabalenka said when asked about her all-time favorite tennis look.

“I remember talking to Nike and telling them I want to bring those colors back,” she added. “Please, just do something for me in those colors!

“I love it, and it fits Australia perfectly. So they did it, and now it’s my favorite dress.”

Inspired by surf culture and scuba gear, the NikeCourt Women’s Slam Dress features a high neckline funnel collar and a partial zipper along the front chest. The look is part of Nike’s 2026 Melbourne Collection.

In Brisbane, Sabalenka kicked off her season with a straight-sets win over Cristina Bucsa, 6-0, 6-1, and followed it up with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Sorana Cirstea on Thursday to move into the quarterfinals.

She faces No. 5 seed Madison Keys next—a rematch of last year’s Australian Open final, in which the American defeated two-time champion Sabalenka to claim her first major title.

The 2026 Australian Open begins on January 18 and runs through February 1.
