sabalenka practice

Fresh off her fourth Grand Slams singles title, Aryna Sabalenka is back on the practice court after an extended break following the 2025 US Open.

The world No. 1, who just kicked off her 50th consecutive week atop the WTA rankings, checked in with fans on social media over the weekend, sharing clips from her training bloc ahead of her scheduled return to action at the Dongfeng Voyah Wuhan Open.

Sabalenka withdrew from the China Open—which began last week—citing "a minor injury", and traveled to Greece (home of boyfriend Georgios Frangulis) to both recover and reset for the final stretch of the season, one that could be a photo finish for year-end No. 1 between herself and No. 2 Iga Swiatek.

Both Sabalenka and Swiatek, who reached the fourth round in Beijing on Monday, have already qualified for the WTA Finals Riyadh. But before the season-ending championships plays out in November, the pair will first battle it out for the remainder of the Asian Swing.

Sabalenka has never lost a match in Wuhan, defending her 2018 and 2019 titles in 2024 with back-to-back three-set victories over Coco Gauff and Zheng Qinwen.

“This tournament feels like playing at home,” Sabalenka said after making her third final last year.

The 27-year-old has stepped up her vlogging presence in 2025, launching an official YouTube channel that boasts just under 50,000 subscribers.

“I just want to feel a bit more connected with people, and so far it’s going well,” she said of the channel during the Cincinnati Open. “I hope it’s also going to motivate people and show the real life of an athlete. We’re all humans and we’re all the same. We just have to put the right work in and have fun with it. I really hope it’s helping and motivating someone. That helps me to show myself a little bit better.”

Sabalenka will be the top seed in Wuhan, the final WTA 1000 tournament of the 2025 season.
