The final of the ATP Challenger event in Bergamo, Italy, has been cancelled because of coronavirus concerns.

Around 132 cases of the virus have been confirmed in the country, prompting the government to suspend some activities in Northern Italy.

The final was supposed to feature France's Enzo Couacaud and Ukraine's Illya Marchenko. The players will receive points and prize money for reaching the final.

The players had unsuccessfully requested to play the final with no crowd watching.

Other sporting events in the country like men's Series A soccer and women's rugby have also been cancelled.

Previously, the sport has experienced the cancellation of a few ATP Challenger events, a WTA $125K event and several ITF tour events in China.
