The ATP says it has warned IMG owner Ted Forstmann against making bets on tennis matches in the future.

"The ATP has sent the message very clearly to Mr. Forstmann that we consider his behavior inappropriate and that he will be in violation of the rules if he engages in such activity in the future," said the governing body of men's tennis in a statement.

After being filed with a lawsuit that alleged he put money on sporting competitions involving IMG clientsForstmann has admitted betting $40,000 on Roger Federer in the 2007 French Open final against Rafael Nadal, which Federer lost. Explicit rules forbidding tennis insiders from gambling on tennis matches were introduced by the joint Tennis Integrity Unit last year.

A spokesperson told Bloomberg in an email that the TIU "has contacted Mr. Forstmann about this matter and made it clear that since January 2009 he has been covered by the provisions of the game’s anti-corruption code.

“Mr Forstmann has confirmed that he understands and accepts this and advised that he has not gambled on tennis since the uniform tennis anti-corruption program came into effect from January 2009."
