MILDURA, Australia(AP) Samantha Stosur secured a Fed Cup World Group II playoff win for Australia over Switzerland on Sunday when she beat Stefanie Voegele 7-6 (2), 5-7, 6-3 in the reverse singles Sunday.
The win gave Australia, playing at home on grass courts, a 3-0 lead and a place in the World Group II in 2010.
Australia held a 2-0 lead after the opening singles matches on Saturday, when Stosur beat Amra Sadikovic and Jelena Dokic beat Voegele.
Stosur, who held one match point in the second set before 19-year-old Voegele rallied to force a third, said it was worth the struggle.
