With her 6-4, 6-2 victory against Julia Gorges in the semifinals of Madrid, Victoria Azarenka will become the highest-ranked Belarusian in WTA history at No. 4 when the new rankings are released on Monday. Azarenka has won 19 of her last 21 matches, including title runs in Miami and Marbella. Former French Open finalist Natasha Zvereva of Belarus was previously the highest-ranked Belarussian, when she reached No. 5.

Azarenka, who has never reached a Grand Slam semifinal, will meet Czech Petra Kvitova in the final, who bested Li Na, 6-3, 6-1. Kvitova will crack the Top 10 for the first time on Monday. Kvitova beat Azarenka the last time they played at 2010 Wimbledon, but Azarenka owns a 2-1 head-to-head lead against her.—Matthew Cronin
