Baseline Player of the Week: Roger Federer

Roger Federer is running out of records to break.

After winning the Australian Open, the Swiss had one goal: get back to world No. 1. This feat seemed impossible at the end of 2016, but three Grand Slams later, all Federer had to do was get to the semifinals of Rotterdam.

By defeating Robin Haase, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, he became the oldest player ever to become world No. 1, a record previously held on the men's side by Andre Agassi at 33 years old.

During the No. 1 ceremony, it felt like the end of the tournament, but he still had two more matches to play. Of course, it wouldn't have mattered if he lost the semifinals as his goal was complete.

Still, he went on to also win his 97th crown by taking out Andreas Seppi and then Grigor Dimitrov, 6-2, 6-2.

Federer first became world No. 1 in February 2004 and hasn't held the spot since November 2012.
